Default Trainers?

Hello. I just bought the game last night and spent a couple hours questing and learning the game but I have a question I can't seem to find answered anywhere.

I am level 5 and still in the first few starting areas. Do I get all my spells via quests at this point or should I be looking for a trainer/vendor or something to buy some spells? I am N/Mo. Thank you very much.

There are skill trainers in various towns throughout the game, not each one though. Ascalon has a skill trainer when you go post-searing.

Other skills can be attained through quests you get, and then there are those you can capture from bosses using the Signet of Capture.

Thoguht I best give you an answer before you get a venom-filled "use the search" response...For your primary ans secondary skills in Pre-searing Ascelon, you do quests/missions for skill...once you enter the academy, it's a combination of both...You have a trainer in Ascelon city as soon as you get there, but just outside, for your first few missions, you will learn more...The rest of the game is pretty much the same with one esception...The Signet of Capture. Equipping this in one of your skill slots lets you "capture" skills from bosses you've slain...can't remember the first place it becomes available....Lion's Arch I think. Anyway....Happy Hunting!

***Dang...Esprit beat me to it....and with a lot less typing too***

At this point your skills are going to come from quests given by NPC's. Later in the game other options such as buying the skills from trainers becomes more common. I would suggest getting as many of your skills from quests as possible.
This link contains a list of quests and skills that can be obtained through quests.

If you are still in pre-searing, you will get about 6 - 8 skills for each of your professions through quests. You can talk to NPC's to find out where other trainers are. Armin Saberlin next to Tydus should be able to tell you where most of them are.

In post-searing, you get skills through quests, but there are also trainers in some cities that you can buy skill from. Later in the game, you can capture skill from bosses using a Signant of Capture. Try and get as many as you can through quests though so you can save up your skill points for the hard-to-get and elite skills you can find later on.

thank you Very much, All. Post Searing means I went across the bridge/wall? I am WAY n00b here lol. I saw people shouting they were looking for people to go over the wall so I am guessing that is post searing? At what level should I think about doing this?

There is a quest that takes you past the wall out into Charr area. That is what they are refering to. You get to post searing by talking to Sir Tydus (After you have gained a secondary profession) and going through the Academy.

Post-searing is when you take the mission from Tydus that warns you in red letters that there is no going back. The place you are in now is basically a 'training' area to learn the game. If it is your first time playing, I suggest running around and doing as many quests as you can, then going through the searing at around level 5 or higher. Doing all the quests will easily get you to level 6 or 7.

Over the wall is a quest where you can go north of the wall to rescue a ranger. There's lots of charr up there and some people like to go up there repeatedly to see how many they can kill. You can only do this quest with a friend because the wall has a lever that needs one person to operate while the other one runs through the gate.

No problem. The academy is a mini PvP and quest that get you to the next part of the game. If it is your first time playing, I suggest you don't do it until you are at least level 5.

To go through the Academy, tell Tydus you are ready. Remember, you cannot go back to pre-searing so make sure you have done everything you want to do there first. When you hit the accept button, you will be randomly placed with a group of other player or henchmen (computer players) to compete in a 4on4 PvP battle. You can group with a friend first if you want to do this with a particular person. After that, you will help Rurik defeat a boss creature. When you have done all that, you will be in post-searing and the real game begins.

Good Luck!
